A good weekend
I started watching a Scottish TV show called “Hamish Macbeth” starring Robert Carlyle. I found it when I put in the keyword “Macbeth” into Netflix. I just love that Scottish play! Anyway I found this TV show based on books by M.C. Beaton and so far it is a fun show.
I also watched “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and it was surprisingly good. I say ‘surprisingly’ because Tim Burton (the director) is usually quite dark and Roald Dahl (the writer) is usually quite dark and I was afraid it would be unbelievably dark. But it turned out to be no creepier than the book (which is quite creepy) and with a strange surprising end. The addition of Christopher Lee as Johnny Depp’s father was just staggeringly fantastic.
Also on my agenda as usual is watching as much Dr. Who as I possibly can. I finished up the available DVDs and now I am looking through my video tapes to find any odd episodes I taped from PBS. And I found “Twin Dilemma” a very odd episode indeed. Colin Baker’s first episode was rife with references to how awful his outfit was. I guess it was all just some kind of in-joke.
The only reading I get to do these days is reading articles for class so I haven’t got anything new to report on that front.
