BookDragon

I love books! What more can I say? Netflix.com provides me with all the DVD’s I can handle. As for books, my thanks go out to Amazon.com, Borders (a chai latte, please!) and all the used book sales I can get to. For anything I can’t find in any of these places, I go to my local library. (Interlibrary Loans are SHINY!)

Work books, again.

“Put your House on a Diet: Declutter your home and reclaim your life.” – This is a funny book. It has great tidbits of information delivered with funny anecdotes. Take the clutter test to see where on the clutter scale you fall. Are you a Felix Unger, June Cleaver, Rosanne, or Oscar Madison?

“The Spirited Vegetarian.” I almost got this book for a vegetarian friend until I discovered that the “spirited” part of the title referred to adding alcohol to dishes. My friend and I are vegetarians for our health, and we don’t drink… for our health. It just doesn’t make sense.

“Dog food” and “Zen Cat” – These two books have cute pictures of dogs and cats (respectively) and neat little quote. They are a pleasant diversion. My favorite is “Zen Cats” because I love the cats. Favorite image is a cat with a computer mouse and the caption says, “The cat does not negotiate with the mouse. – Robert K. Massie.”

“The Abs Diet” and “Framework” – Two exercise books in a row! It makes me tired just looking at them. Fitness, diet and exercise is such a science, it makes me wonder why so many people are so unhealthy. But, even if you exercise, happiness is not assured. Occasionally, during lunch break I walk outside along the jogging path. I look at the trees, the birds, the plants, and the rocks. I enjoy the sun and the wind (I LOVE wind… it’s my favorite meteorological phenomena.) But the joggers never look happy. They shut themselves off by listening to their ipods and seem to be only focusing on their speed, heart rate and (no doubt) pain. And just like them, the models in these exercise books never look happy. They grimly go through the movements, lifting, stretching, etc. Hardly inspirational.

LIBRARIANS: the books, the fame, the fortune… What more could you want? (Maybe more books.)
