BookDragon

I love books! What more can I say? Netflix.com provides me with all the DVD’s I can handle. As for books, my thanks go out to Amazon.com, Borders (a chai latte, please!) and all the used book sales I can get to. For anything I can’t find in any of these places, I go to my local library. (Interlibrary Loans are SHINY!)

This week on TV

“Night Stalker” – I loved the original series. This doesn’t quite have the noir feel that the original had, and Kolchak’s boss Vincenzo doesn’t yell like the original, and this time around he has a sexy but skeptical partner who constantly questions what he is doing. Even though the characters are thin, washed out versions of the original, I’ll watch.

“Green Death” – It’s the last Jon Pertwee episode available on DVD and the last episode with Jo Grant. Sad but sweet. The disc also had a great deal of extras, including two very good interviews with the actors. This series was very interesting and quite far ahead of its time in its themes on corporate corruption, destruction of the ecology, and the rights of workers.

The second half of “Two Towers” featuring the battle for Helm’s Deep was as awesome as I remember it. The Ent’s on the march was well done, an image I was looking forward to ever since I read the book. When they announced a movie was in the works, all I could think of was, “How are they going to do the Ents?” It works well. The extended scenes include Merry and Pippin finding “Old Toby.”
